Before starting a donation cycle, we start with some simple pre-testing that is local to you. The pre-testing starts when you are matched with a couple, and consists of the following:
– An AMH Blood Test
– A Psychological Evaluation
– A Genetic Evaluation
All of these tests are conducted at facilities local to your home, and can be scheduled at a time that is convenient to you.
Upon receiving approval of your pre-testing results, we have you complete a medical screening appointment at the fertility center you will be cycling with.
Once your medical clearance is issued, we will finalize the cycle with a legal contract. Each party is given their own legal counsel, so that they are properly informed on the donor agreement and feel comfortable with it.
As soon as legal contracts are signed, the fertility center will schedule the egg donation cycle. They will confirm your schedule and availability, and provide you with a calendar for the cycle. The calendar will include the date you will start nightly hormone injections, and you will take those for a total of 10-14 days.
Throughout the cycle you can expect 4-6 monitoring appointments, which are quick appointments that consist of a blood draw and ultrasound. We can typically provide monitoring local to you, in order to keep travel days to a minimum. Once your physician has confirmed your body is ready for the retrieval, your coordinator will give you your final injection instructions and when to
arrive for egg retrieval.
The egg retrieval is a non-invasive procedure that typically takes 20-30 minutes. You will be asleep under light sedation for the entirety of the procedure. When you wake up, the nurses will make sure you are comfortable and that you are able to leave safely. After the procedure, the fertility center will see you one more time to confirm that recovery is going smoothly.
We are happy to chat with you! Please enter your information below and we will reach out to connect further. We find that talking through the process in person brings a lot of clarity to how an egg donation cycle works.
